Welcome, family, to Rooted, my virtual Bible study. I may not be a minister or preacher, but I do love God and am committed to the spirit of 2 Timothy 2:15, which says, “Study to show yourself approved.”

In this section, I’ll be hosting a weekly Bible study with recaps after each book. You’re more than welcome to read along here on the blog, join in the comments, or follow my YouTube channel, where I’ll go over scriptures and dive deeper into our studies.

I started Rooted because I want to learn and, even more importantly, share what I learn with others. My goal is to build a community of discipleship among men and women, where we support each other in faith. When my husband and I first got married, we went through a lot. We felt unprepared for marriage, uncertain about our roles, and found out we were working outside of God’s alignment for us. At a low point, we realized we had no strong discipleship from married couples in our church, I felt alone, lost and hopeless. Many of the pastors I knew were divorced, and while that’s not to discredit their experiences, my father always told me, “People can only take you as far as they’ve gone. Out of a longing for guidance, I turned to God, praying and fasting monthly, and that decision transformed me profoundly.

While family and friends were there for us, I craved mentorship rooted in shared faith—support from others walking with God who could guide us from a place of spiritual unity. Our trials brought us closer, but they also highlighted the need for a community of discipleship that could nurture and strengthen newly married couples and young adults trying to navigate the bible and life's ups and downs, helping them avoid preventable struggles. And this is not exclusive to married people, because I understand the need for discipleship.

With Rooted, I want to offer the support and wisdom I once searched for, building a community where we can discipline one another in the spirit of God. Join me each week as I seek to deepen my relationship with God and understand life through scripture.

Mission Statement:

Rooted is community dedicated to studying Scripture together, growing in faith, and supporting one another in our walks with God. Through engaging Bible studies, and discussion, we aim to deepen our understanding of God’s Word and apply it to our lives.

Vision:

To cultivate a space where all believers, regardless of background or life stage, can gather to seek Wisdom, guidance, and strength from God’s Word. As we grow individually and together, we aim to develop a firm foundation in Christ, rooted in Scripture.

Structure of Rooted Bible Study

  1. Weekly Readings and Reflection:

    • With rooted we aim to dive into the bible one book at a time.

    • Each week, participants are encouraged to study one chapter of the Bible and reflect on its meaning and personal application.

    • Weekly check-ins provide a space to discuss insights, ask questions, and share encouragement.

  2. Chapter Breakdown Videos:

    • A video breakdown will be shared to provide context, insights, and practical applications for the chapter. This will serve as a guide to dive deeper and find new perspectives.

  3. After-Book Recaps and Group Discussion:

    • At the end of each book, we’ll host a virtual gathering, either through a live discussion, Zoom call, or community post. This recap allows everyone to share takeaways, reflections, and applications from the book.

Engagement Guidelines: To foster a respectful, loving environment, our engagement guidelines are based on principles from Scripture:

  • Speak with Love and Respect: “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” — Colossians 4:6

    • Communicate with kindness, building each other up and approaching differences with humility and understanding.

  • Encourage One Another in Faith: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

    • Offer words of encouragement and support, recognizing the unique journey of each member.

  • Engage with a Heart of Service: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” — 1 Peter 4:10

    • Be generous in sharing insights, wisdom, and practical advice that can benefit the whole group.

  • Pursue Peace and Unity: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:3

    • Promote unity and understanding in all discussions, respecting each person’s perspective and contributions.
